The Institute of Concentration Camp Musical Literature (ETS) Foundation (ILMC), based in Barletta, is now an internationally established archival, bibliographic, and research institution. Established in 2014 and registered in the Register of Legal Entities of the Territorial Government Office of Barletta-Andria-Trani, the Foundation researches, studies, catalogs, publishes, and promotes concentration camp musicโmusic created in civilian and military captivity or under extreme conditions of deprivation of fundamental human rights from 1933 (the opening of KL Dachau) to 1953 (the death of Joseph Stalin). For many years, the ILMC Foundation, owner of thousands of musical manuscripts written in civilian and military captivity on various paper media, has also extended its scope to the recovery of musical instruments used or manufactured in the camps, as well as the paintings and graphic works of artists and painters who were persecuted, discriminated against, deported, or killed. This is thanks to the entry into the ILMC Foundation of researcher and art expert Roberto Malini, who donated the recovered paintings and the collection of 113 drawings made during the military internment by the painter Ferruccio Francesco Frisone and donated to the Foundation by his son Giovanni.
