Trip to Israel
Jerusalem, Kibbutz Netser Sereni, Natanya
Francesco Lotoro, Donatella Altieri

In Jerusalem , we went to Yad Vashem to complete the digital scanning of 40 folders of music files. There were thousands of pages to scan, so we agreed to acquire some of the 40 files and have the remainder shipped to us.
We then reached Kibbutz Netser Sereni to meet Hilde Zimche Grünbaum , a Jewish copyist of the Birkenau women's orchestra directed by Alma Rosè. I was looking for a sheet of music Hilde had written in Birkenau, but it had been donated to Yad Vashem. We obtained a scanned copy.
The next day we went to Natanya to meet the Jewish writer and painter Dita Kraus , who had been deported to Theresienstadt and Birkenau. Kraus remembered by heart songs and nursery rhymes she had written in Theresienstadt, which we recorded (Kraus also donated one of her paintings to us).
